1. What is the BusinessCards software?
--------------------------------------
BusinessCards for Windows is a free form database program, useful for
keeping track of any type of textual information. You can use
BusinessCards to organize and manage any vital information, such as
names, addresses, and phone numbers.
With BusinessCards you decide how to present and organize information.
Instead of using predefined fields and record layouts, offered by most
database programs and personal information managers, in BusinessCards
you decide how to format and display your data. Moreover, you may use
BusinessCards to store random data, such as video or CD titles, short
articles, descriptions of collection items, etc.
BusinessCards is easy to use software. I've tried to make it to be more
useful, than Windows Cardfile. BusinessCards has friendly and convenient
folio-like user interface. I expect you will be amazed by how fast you
can learn to use it effectively.
BusinessCards is compact. There are no requirements for megabytes of
free disk space or extra memory to run the program. So if you are busy
business traveller, you will be able to keep both program and data files
on diskette and use them at client's site. Since BusinessCards directly
reads and writes Windows Cardfile files, there should be minimum
problems, converting your existing address or price database.
2. What is in distribution kit?
-------------------------------
Normally, BusinessCards distribution kit consists of archive file
BCR210.ZIP, which includes the following files:
BCARDS.EXE BusinessCards program file
BCARDS.HLP BusinessCards help file
CTL3D.DLL 3D dialogs library
TDLG.DLL tabbed dialog boxes library
USAFIRMS.BCR sample file: 617 USA high-tech companies
SAMPLE.BCR sample file: how to use attachments
ACODE.CSV sample file: USA area codes (comma-delimited format)
ORDER.TXT BusinessCards registration form
RESPONCE.TXT user responce/suggestions form
README.TXT this file
VENDOR.TXT information for shareware vendors/distributors
FILE_ID.DIZ short program description for BBS-es
3. How to install BusinessCards?
--------------------------------
In order to install BusinessCards software you need Windows 3.1 or
Windows for Workgroups 3.1 or later, 2 MB of RAM and 500K of free disk
space.
Create a directory specifically for BusinessCards, such as C:\BCARDS.
Copy the BCR210.ZIP file to that directory. Then run PKUNZIP BCR210 to
unpack the files. If you use Windows Program manager, follow the
instructions below. If you have other Windows shell installed (such as
Norton Desktop for Windows), please refer to appropriate documentation
on how to add a new program object to that shell.
In Program Manager you can easily create a visible BusinessCards icon.
To do that, first, select 'New' command in 'File' menu. Next, in 'New
Program Object' dialog box choose 'Program Item'. In 'Program Item
Properties' dialog box use the follwoing commads:
Description: BusinessCards
Commmand line: C:\BCARDS\BCARDS.EXE
Working directory: C:\BCARDS
Press 'Ok' button until you get back to the Program Manager. The
BusinessCards icon should appear in current Program Manager's window. To
run the program just double click on the its icon. There is complete
documentation and information on how to use BusinessCards in the on-line
Help.
4. How to uninstall BusinessCards?
----------------------------------
In case you would like to get rid of installed copy of BusinessCards,
just remove program directory with all existing files. BusinessCards
does not creates or updates any Windows system or initialization files.
5. How to register the program?
-------------------------------
This software is a fully operational program. I have made it this way so
that you can have a real look at it, and then decide whether
BusinessCards fit your needs or not. If you do find it useful, the
author asks that you please register your copy. Registration fee is
$29.95. For this sum you will receive your personal serial number and:
1. Original diskette with most up to date version of BusinessCards
for Windows software plus two registration bonuses -- BrainCubes
game for Windows and updated and enhanced version of USA
high-tech companies database.
2. Your personal serial number to register the program. The initial
registration reminder dialog box which appears at the beginning
of the program is removed when you install your registered copy.
Also, your name will appear in Help/About dialog box and word
`UNREGISTERED' will be removed from program's title bar.
3. The watermark printing is completely disabled in registered
version, so your printed output would contain no registration
reminder phrase.
4. By registering, you are assured of receiving the most up-to-date
and full-featured product possible. Next major version upgrade
will be free for all registered users and subsequent versions
will be offered with significant discount. When you register, you
will be placed on mailing list to receive notices of new major
revisions when they become available.
5. Registered users will receive free 90 days technical support over
the phone, fax or email for their version of BusinessCards.
If you have email address, I will do my best to email you registration
number within 24 hours, so you be able to register your existing copy
right away.
There are many ways to register BusinessCards software.
